With engine, transmission, and manifolds in place, it's time to start putting the front sheetmetal together.
Far from complete, but here is some of the work done on the firewall and trans tunnel.

1. I planned on using the original transmission tunnel so that I could possibly re-use the shifter boot and carpet. |
|

2. Bottom mounted, and top pie cut for clearance. |

3. Pie cut filled in, and firewall area right behind the block is in. |
|

4. I had to put this fill piece across the top to match up with the firewall. |

5. I still have really good clearance behind the engine. |
|

6. This frame corner is right where my gas pedal is supposed to go. |

7. So I cut it down a bit and re-plated with similar thickness plate. |
|

8. Since I recently constructed my tool stand, I was able to use my sheetmetal brake for the first time. |

9. This is the old floorpan from the blue car that I did not use. It made a great passenger side footwell side. |
|

10. As viewed from the front. You can see where the kickout has been employed to clear the starter. |

11. There is an inch plus clearance all around. |
|

12. I also got to use my bead roller for the first time. |

13. Not quite tic tac toe, but the 12x12 inch piece of metal is much less floppy now. |
|

14. This shows the end where the bead rolled toe board is placed. You can also see how I moved the toe board back by an inch or so to match the frame tubes. |

15. Fill piece between the top and sides of the box. |
|

16. There is finger in welding glove clearance all around the IAV. |

17. A shot of the inside. This area is only a little cozier tahn before. |
Happy with my progress. I will need my exhaust pipe attached to my turbo before I can do the same on the driver side.
More to come.
