There were several considerations when building the transmission tunnel. The seats had to fit, the trans had to fit, the shifter had to come out in the right spot, the shifter placement had to be right, and finally the handbrake had to be positioned correctly.

A lot to consider, but I think it all worked out.

1. Here is the section I've been using for mock up set in place.

2. The old reinforcements for the hand brake interfered a bit with these unused mount ears.

3. Leg, shifter and hand brake all about where they will go. Hand brake in the up position.

4. Same as before with brake down.

5. I thought briefly about mounting the brake on top of the tunnel.

6. It would have worked, but I liked the original placement better.

7. One more of what could have been.

8. Cutting the back of the tunnel off because I am not using the old seat belt mount location.

9. I cut the old reinforcement off, and welded a new piece on to add strength.

10. I also welded on this bottom piece on since the hand brake used to seal on the floor.

11. Tunnel extension welded on.

12. Inside the tunnel. Things are a bit tight, but everything clears.

13. Trans tunnel on the driver side where the hand brake mounts.

14. Old tunnel from the red car. I'm using a piece of it to extend the tunnel back.

15. Tunnel with piece removed.

16. This is about the full length of the tunnel.

17. I finished off the floor for the most part which also lockes in the tunnel.

18. A shot from above showing the beads rolled into the floor.

I still have the other side to do, but it is the same as this side, except hte floor are is a bit bigger.

It is really starting to feel like a car again.
