I have to relocate the shifter further forward.
To do this I am planning on using a spare shifter I have lying around. This shows creating the relocation brakcet.

1. The first thing to do is figure out the shape of the base plate. |
|

2. I do this using a cardboard template and the spare shifter base. |

3. At first I wanted to try to use 1/4 inch platefor the base. |
|

4. I cut the outer shape with a combination of hack saw, file, and jigsaw. |

5. I plasma cut the inner bit. I realized pretty quickly that a different base plate was needed. |
|

6. I started again with 16 gauge sheet metal. |

7. Here is the base cut, with nuts welded on to bolt this dift housing in place. |
|

8. Next I had to make a cover for the piece that sticks down in the middle. I chose to make a cup from these two pieces of metal. |

9. I tacked the strip on the edge of the rounf piece. |
|

10. I then formed it to the round piece with a body hammer. |

11. Further along. You can see the shape forming. |
|

12. Almost done. Just the tail to cut off and weld in. |

13. All done. If anyone needs a shallow metyal cup for something, I'm their man. |
|

14. I notched the piece with a file to clear the shifter housing. |

15. I then started cutting out the rest of the bottom cover housing. |
|

16. Basic mount plate design, almost done. |

17. A shot of the inside. |
|

18. I filed down the casting flash so my plate woudl sit down nice and low. |

19. Here is the housing and mount sitting in place. |
|

20. Here is the nearly completed mount. Just a couple of extra legs and some cleanup welding before it is done. |
That went reasonably well, so next is to modify the shift lever and design the linkage.
More soon.
