This installment covers making the new rear subframe, or cage, that will mount the Jag rear suspension to the car

I did some of the cutting and figuring, and my dad did all of the welding.

1. Here are the plans we used. I bought them on ebay. They consist of a blueprint, and a reprint of a magazine article.

2. My dad brought home a piece of 1/2 inch plate to lay the work out on and to make our jig.

3. Laying out some of the initially cut pieces.

4. My awesome Harbour Freight cheapie cutoff saw.

5. One side almost all laid out.

6. The back side of this piece is welded and cooled. It's been turned over to weld the other side.

7. One side all done. We are deviating from the plans a bit by having the lower support pieces both front and abck, rather than just front.

8. Both sides clamped down for the central plate to be welded on.

9. Side view.

10. One more from the back.

11. We had to switch to my ARC welder when the MIG we were using kept having different problems (Hence the chipping hammer).

12. The plate is slanted because so is the mounting surface on top of the diff.

13. Here the diff is, all bolted in. I will need new bolts because the old ones are tapered.

14. From the front.

15. Next to the old subframe (or cage as it was called).

16. One more. Considerably narrower.

The shock mounting locations, lower arm, and halfshaft are all 4 inches narrower per side. The Jag rear end was 61.75 inches WMS to WMS (wheel mounting surface). My car is set up to have 53.75 inches WMS to WMS.
