I finished up the driver side clearancing and flare skeleton, then moved on to figuring out what radiator I can have.

Things are coming together.

1. Clearancing for the tire on the driver's side.

2. Here is the flare tacked into place.

3. The car now has all of its flares started.

4. This is the first possible radiator size. 18.5 high by 17 wide.

5. Here it is in the car. It sits down between the swaybar mounts.

6. It's pretty obvious it sticks up too high. 3.5 inches high in fact.

7. I tried different angles, but couldn't pick up a meaningfull decrease in height.

8. It also sits pretty close to the steering rack. You can see it sitting on the front frame section.

9. If it were put in sideways you pick up a little vertical clearance.

10. Still 2 inches too tall.

11. Here it is in the sideways orientation from the front.

12. This is the second size I woudl try. It is a scirocco style and is 22 by 13 inches.

13. Here is a view from the front. Very little stick up.

14. It is sitting right down on top of the swaybar mounts.

15. Half an inch of stick up is acceptable.

16. It also clears the front suspension, just.

17. There is also better clearance in front of the steering rack.

18. This is one size that may work for the intercooler. It is readily available on ebay.

19. This is the other possible size. I wanted to try mockups of these as well.

20. Here they are side by side for a comparison.

21. I went outside to close down the shed the night before this shot was taken. It was raining into my workspace.

22. Here is my temporary solution. I also ordered a new top.

23. Smaller intercooler in plaec. It blocks roughly 25% of the radiator but that can be overcome with good ducting.

24. Here is the larger intercooler. It would block closer to 40% which to me is not acceptable.

25. Closeup shot of how the radiator is sitting on the swaybar mounts.

26. I decided I will have to lower the swaybar mount by about an inch and use allen head bolts.

27. Here is my mockup next to the real thing. The mockup was pretty close.

28. The end tanks were off a bit, but they were done by eye.

More to do. I need to fiddle with the swaybar a bit. I also still have the rest of my to do list ahead of me.Plus I still need to modify the pedal box.
