I had a little disappointment with my aftermarket oil pan. It supposedly gave more clearance beneath, but not only did that not work out, but it didn't fit well between the framerails of the MG.
There were a couple of other things as well.

1. Here is what the water pump plate looks like. |
|

2. I would have used it if I had kept the electric water pump, but it wasn't worth it. |

3. Here is the water pump cavity with the cover removed. |
|

4. Up close. |

5. Stock RWD SR20DET water pump. |
|

6. FWD SR20DE pump. The snout is shorter, and so is the pulley mount. The snouth length makes it match my FWD balancer, and alternator. |

7. Fenders back on for fun. Sometimes you have to remind yourself that this is a car, and not just a sculpture made out of misery. |
|

8. Engine on hoist with the water pump off. |

9. One more shot of the engine's home. |
|

10. Oil pan off. It had some nasty oil in it. |

11. Windage tray and pickup. |
|

12. Another angle up inside. |

13. The pan would not go on all the way. |
|

14. Trying to fit the pan, but it kept clanging off the sides. |
Stock oil pan it is.
Next will be fun with manifolds.
