I just took two weeks off of work, which has kick-started my work on the MG again..

This is some of the work I did during those two weeks. In particular this is the re-fitting of the engine and transmission. It had to be moved forward a bit for cockpit room, and shifter location. Still behind the crossmember though.

1. I popped the fenders on for a moment to help remind myself what I was doing. Seeing your project as a "real" car again can help you feel like working on it.

2. I tried to use an aluminum aftermarket oil pan with kickouts for more capacity, but it was almost as wide as the space I had to work with.

3. Back to the steel pan. This engine is mounted slightly canted from the factory and I was trying to reproduce that here.

4. I ditched the square tube trans mount in favor of the stock piece.

5. Mount plates tacked into place. These will be close to flush with the floor

6. Mounts tacked in at the front. They also serve to cap off the frame rail tubes.

7. Mounts in, engine out.

8. A shot showing engine and trans mounts.

9. Mounts welded in with the transmission bolted back in place. There will be front and rear gussets when I am done.

10. Mounts in the front with the engine back in.

11. Sadly, my seats of chouce still won't fit right, so back to the junkyard.

Feels good to be working on the car again.

Next issue will involve putting to floors back where they belong.
