More midget fun. There wasn't enough room side to side for the engine and accessories. So after talking to some of the very helpful people at http://www.webrodder.com they suggested I move my frame rails to the outside of the crossmember.

That was a fantastic idea. What follows is how we accomplished that.

1. Here is how it stood when I began.

2. The are in question. The frame riser section was the problem.

3. Side view of the riser area.

4. Got to take the suspension off to be able to get to things.

5. Half there.

6. Having it on the outside shoudl not be a problem. The wheel would never travel this far anyway.

7. Bare, sans suspension.

8. Starting to cut the sections. Some of the shorter pieces come from what otherwise would be scrap.

9. This is about where the finished frame pieces would sit.

10. The three pieces comprising the new frame sections.

11. Set together how they will go.

12. Welded up prior to mounting on the car.

13. One side essentially done.

14. Closer view showing a comparison to the old rails.

15. First cut to remove old rails.

16. It was a little hard to do considering how the rail was right up against the old one.

17. Kind of the new frame shape. Not sure what all from what's left will also be removed.

18. From the top.

19. With the engine back in.

20. It all seems to clear.

21. With the suspension back on.

22. That just barely clears everything. I will likely have to trim the old frame section more.

23. Clearance here may still be an issue, but I am still looking for throttle body spacers to deal with it.

Good progress. I have a bit more to do before I can really say that the engine is fully fited, but this is a step in the right direction.

More soon.
