I decided to spend an hour working to fit the engine. On a week day even.
I did some more cutting, some planned and other not. It fits now, I just have to relocate my steering output.

1. Here's the cutting marked out to clear the intake. |
|

2. From a different angle before the cutting began. |

3. First cut made. |
|

4. Another angle. |

5. I made another cut to be even with the frame rail. |
|

6. I finally put the wheels on stands to clear up the middle and make way to roll the lift in. |

7. Looks like it's going to fit. |
|

8. Maybe a little more cutting. |

9. This still interferes even with the engine pushed all the way over. |
|

10. Here's the spot. |

11. And from the front. |
|

12. Here's where I'm going to cut out the steering so it is all intact. |

13. I'm going to have to unbolt the gas pedal so as not to cut it when I cut the steering out. |
|

14. Another view of the pedal and its mounts. |

15. Here it is cut out. |
|

16. Showing all the clearance. |

17. Clearance on both sides. |
|

18. Here it is behind the crossmember. Back a little too far, actually |

19. Down below the level of the hood. |
|

20. The hose on the left coming off the throttle body rests on the vette suspension when the motor is in the right spot. |

21. The transmission is waaay far back. It will be a few inches forward, but I'm going to look into a way to shorten it, or at least move the shifter forward. |
More progress. Still some problems, but then there are always problems
I'm glad at least that it fits in the spot where it needs to go.
