The next step I was very excited about. Putting the front crossmember on.
We started by tacking it in place after getting it set to the axle center line.

1. Part of the plan was to get the midget turning on the rotisserie again. |
|

2. So we had to modify the old front mount. |

3. These shots are of my dad cutting off the original mounting flanges. |
|

4. The crossmember set in place and tacked. It was about this time that I realized there was a problem. |

5. Mounted this way, the crossmember was 6 inches too low. I would have a Midget with 12 inches of ground clearance |
|

6. In ordering it, how it was to be mounted got garbled. I though I didn't have to come up 6 inches on the frame, but apparently I did. |

7. Here is where the pivot would later be mounted. |
|

8. Where the modifications will take place. You can see where I've already started making room at the firewall. |

9. This cut for sloppy with the sawzall, but it turns out I'll be taking most of the firewall out anyway. |
|

10. This side is a lot neater. It was done with a plasma cutter. |

11. The frame rail has to come up 6 inches. and still be strongly supported. The main frame rails are 2x2 square tubing. The blue rimmed piece is the diagonal support, and is from 2x3 tubing. It will lap over the bottom tube, and the 4 inch high riser. The green hashed area will have plate one both sides, flush with the outside of the tubes. |
It's a slowdown, but it will be ok. I will be able to focus on getting the rear end narrowed, and other aspects.
I don't know what the other aspects are yet exactly, but I will work it out. I may have to work on other projects.
