I closed off the rear wheel wells this weekend.

It took some cutting and welding, and I got to break out my plasma cutter.

1. Driver side rear. Have to trim the top and clean up the area I have to fill.

2. This area has to be trimmed back and the support removed.

3. More trimming at the front.

4. Rear area cleaned up a bit. Still have to get the grinder out.

5. Top cleaned up.

6. Front cleaned up.

7. Passenger side rear. This bottom area sticks out too far and will have to be moved back a bit.

8. Passenger side top.

9. Passenger side front.

10. Mostly cleaned up, but the palsma cutter left the top a bit rough.

11. Passenger side rear trimmed.

12. Driver side rear. I made some relief cuts in this wrinkled panel and straightened it up a bit.

13. Side shot of the repair. This car got a rear quarter at some point in its life.

14. PS rear. Panel moved back. I decided I coudl make the repair cleaner if I folded over the top part to close in the gap I created.

15. PS rear. All closed in at the bottom.

16. PS front patch going into place. No matter how I cleaned it up, there was a channel that had undercoat in it that I could not get out.

17. Front bottom patch in. I hammered it in to place and welded it all around.

18. This is a new mini sheet metal shear that I got for christmas. I put it to good use.

19. PS rear patch in. I attached it on the relatively flat inside, and bent it out to meet the wheel flare.

20. DS rear patch in.

21. DS top. I tried to do this area with one patch, but there was too much of a curve and I had to make a relief cut.

22. DS top all sealed up.

23. PS top opening that needs to be filled.

24. This was much better with two pieces. almost no hammering needed because I finally got wise and formed the panels better at the beginning.

The rear is all sealed up. There are some pin holes and some nastly lumpy welds, but I had trouble welding upside down hunched into a wheel well, and wasn't able to clear all of the undercoat out. I figure I'll smooth down and fix all my welds later on when I have the rotisserie again.
