My dad and I had the engine rebuilt. Turns out the intake manifold was cracked, and the ones they had there in the shop were all cracked in the same spot, se we took advantage of this and upgraded to an edelbrock performer manifold and an edelbrock quadrajet four barrel carb.

Pics of the install follw.

1. The old carb, and the new. The old one was a fairly small two barrel feeding a V8. The primaries on the new carb are bigger than the old one.

2. We took the whole front clip off to make it easier to put the engine back in.

3. Another naked camaro picture.

4. The clip itself is in pretty good shape with some rust in the lower rear portion.

5. The hood is good too. Too bad the electric headlight doors are shot.

6. Fresh from the rebuilder. Ready to go.

7. Inner fenders are ok too.

8. Freshly painted, and upside down. Only 2 bolt main. The care was the low performance 327 to start.

9. Sexy engine. Its just mocked up here.

10. Mockup from the rear. Funny sidenote, we later learned we had the distributor turned around 180 degrees.

11. Now with accessories. The alternator bracket was bodged at some point over the years.

12. Another shot. Years later I need a new power steering pump and brackets.

13. Naked camaro, now with cleaning and fresh coat of paint.

14. How it's getting back in.

15. Got the engine up for a test fit. Guy ont he right is my dad, I'm on the left some years, several pairs of glasses and about 80 lbs ago.

16. Yep, it still fits in there.

17. My dad and I are taking it back out to put the transmission on.

18. This was a rented hoist. I later bought one.

19. 2 speed power glide. Now that's high tech.

20. In she goes.

21. Almost there.

22. Getting it on the motor mounts.

23. Some fine alignment.

24. Just about ready to let it off the chain. I didn't know about the intake mounted lift brackets at this time.

25. Tranny's caught on something, maybe.

26. Adjusting the car's position by jack.

27. Remind me never to wear a hat like that again.

28. My dad is better at this than I.

29. Ah, that looks right.

30. Yep, it's in.

31. Just making sure the bolts are all in the mounts right.

32. Some more.

33. I'm working the jack if it needs to be moved around.

34. I'm sideways, but I'm happy.

35. Tightening up the moror mount bolts.

36. Messing with the distributor and carb.

37. Carb is on.

38. Clip and hood are back on.

39. back together, but still needs exhaust.

40. You can tell form the middle front that it was originally granada gold.

41. Pretty much all done.

42. Yeah, that looks nice.

That was fun.
